Waiting on God's Timing for Romance
Proverbs 4:23-"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."
I Corinthians 7:32-35- “But I want you to be without care. He who is unmarried cares for the things of the Lord--how he may please the Lord. But he who is married cares about the things of the world--how he may please his wife. There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world--how she may please her husband. And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.”
We have chosen to save our hearts for our future spouses. We're waiting on God's timing for romance and are committed to serving God until that time comes. This means that we're not currently romantically pursuing someone but instead are cultivating friendships with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We believe that if God wants us to have a spouse one day, He will make it crystal clear when the time has come to be in a relationship with that person through prayer, counsel, and Scripture. Instead of engaging in frivolous relationships we're waiting for the right person to be in a serious, committed, marriage-minded relationship with. We're doing this because we know that only God knows who we will marry one day (Jeremiah 29:11-13), we understand that all good gifts come from Him (James 1:17), and we believe that He will work out all the details (Psalm 138:8) in His way which may vary for each of us. In this particular season of singleness in our lives, we're focused on BECOMING Cinderella or Prince Charming rather than LOOKING for him or her.
